Tiwa Savage’s Early Life and Education
Temitope Savage is a Nigerian songwriter, singer and actress born on the 5th of February, 1980.
She was born in Isale Eko, Lagos but later relocated alongside her family to London.
In London, Tiwa Savage was a Trombone player in her high school orchestra band. After High School, she went further to study Accounting at the University of Kent.
After her graduation, she worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland for a while.

Music Career
At the age of 16, Tiwa Savage started her music career as a background singer to George Micheal and was a vocalist to a few other artists including: Chaka Khan, Kelly Clarkson and Mary.J. Blige.
To further her interest in music, she enrolled at the Berkeley College of Music, where she graduated with a degree in professional music in 2007. While she was studying, she participated in the X Factor (UK edition) competition but ended up being the 12th person to have been evicted from the show .
While speaking about the show, she said she had difficulty with being in the limelight and how painful it felt to be evicted.
Two years after her graduation, Tiwa signed a deal with Sony/ATV Music publishing in 2009. She was able to write songs for Monica, Fantasia, Babyface and others.
She received credit for her contribution to the ballad titled “Catch Me Now” by Monica.
She collaborated with Fantasia on the song “Collard greens & cornbread” which earned a Grammy Award in 2010.
Tiwa also did background vocals in the album “I look to you “ by Whitney Houston.
She returned to Nigeria in 2010 and signed a deal with MAVIN records in 2012. She made an appearance on the compilation album solar plexus produced by Don jazzy.
On the 3rd of July 2013, Tiwa Savage released her first album which she said she started in 2010. The album was titled “Once upon a time “.

In December 2015, Tiwa Savage released her second Album titled R.E.D which is an acronym for Romance, Expression and Dance.
She featured other Nigerian artists like Olamide, 2face, Reekado Banks and more while the Album was produced by Don Jazzy with some additional work done by Baby Fresh, P2J and Altims.
In 2016, the Deluxe version of the album was released with vocals from P-square and Wizkid. In the same year she signed a publishing deal with ROC nation.
On May 2nd 2019, Universal Music Group announced the signing of Tiwa to a seven-year publishing deal and her exit from MAVIN Records. Don Jazzy congratulated her and wished well in her future endeavors.
In July, 2019, Tiwa Savage was featured on “Keys to the kingdom” a track she co-wrote for Beyoncé’s album The Lion King: The Gift. She appeared on the track alongside Mr Eazi.

Show Career
In 2011, Tiwa Savage became a co-host of the second season of the Nigerian Idol alongside IIIRymz.
As an actress, she made her debut appearance with a Nigerian stage adaptation of the movie “For Colored Girls” in 2011. Since then she has also featured in two other television series: Shuga S3 between 2013-2014 and Jenifer’s Diary S3 in 2016.
She co-founded an entertainment company called 323 Entertainment Record Label alongside her ex-husband Tee billz .

Personal Life
On the 23rd of November 2013, Tiwa Savage got married to Tee Billz as they held their traditional wedding ceremony at the Ark in Lekki. They proceeded to hold the white wedding ceremony at the Armani Hotel Dubai. They announced their unborn baby on the 1st of January 2015, and six months later Tiwa gave birth to her first child and son who they named Jamil Balogun.
On the 28th of April 2016, Tunji Balogun accused his wife of infidelity and his mother-in-law of witchcraft. In a 45-minute interview with Daily Times, Tiwa Savage extensively debunked the claims made by her husband and accused him of financial recklessness, drug addiction and abandonment and she said her marriage to him was over.
